All about Kute, an amazing project under scorelab

Kute is a real time travel tracker for Sri Lanka users, who are looking out for car pooling and track public transport. Its a convenient application to use for real time car pooling and track public transport for accurate timings.

After you login, you find the above two options for you to use. If you choose to private vehicles, you can either register your vehicle as shown in the following screens.

You will find the above flow to register your mobile number, vehicle name and share your route. So that it would help people who are travelling by the same way. Also you will find options to simply add existing routes which you have added previously, and find friends.

Coming to the public vehicles, you will get an option to share your location for a particular publish transport say bus or train, and people who are following that particular vehicle can track on google map accurately and estimate the arrival or departure timings. It's a very good application to use for a busy working day.

To contribute to this application, you can visit the github page and look up for setting up the project locally. The community is friendly and welcoming for any beginner level help.

Best way to report dengue cases through a simple mobile app, All about 'dengue-stop'

Dengue is one of the most dangerous disease, when not reported and treated in time would lead to death. Today I'm going to talk about an interesting application which helps one to report dengue cases immediately and get assistance on time.  This project is built as part of scorelab research to help alleviate dengue.

The app allows you to simply authenticate yourself either through facebook or google+. This is a one step OAuth2 setup which you need to allow the application to use your public profile details either on facebook or google+.

Once logged in, the user can view the following page.

You have different options to either report the case which is near you, or report a garbage dump which is present unattended. This application helps you to report both affected cases for assistance as well as reports cases (such as mosquito breeding areas) to prevent the outbreak of the disease.

It also shows a report on the total number of cases being reports and few statistics on daily and weekly reports. That gives an idea to the community on the severity of the problem and immediate assistance can be given.

Some really good features to have is, to connect the government authorities and doctors to deal with case reports on dengue attack and garbage clearance to mitigate the problem. Also, one good feature can be to point marks on the map, to locate areas for accurate tracking.

For developers who are looking forward to contribute to the application, here is the quick link to follow and setup the project locally and contribute.

How I sloved an issue with PSLab website

Hi, I'm mehant. As part of my GCI task i was asked to test the pslab website which is under fossasia. I have to test the website and raise a bug. And also solve the same. I forked the repo, cloned to me local system and started testing the website on my browser.

I have observed that the down caret in the nav bar is inconsistent. I tested it on firefox and observed that it is working well in chrome browser.

So i started fixing the bug, by adding a css class to the div containing the caret under "getting started" section. added a margin-left style to the div and made it consistent, not only in website but also across browsers.
